Setting up PS3 to an surround amplifier with HDMI confused me for the first time and is not an easy task for me, as it took me more than 20 minutes to figure out why there’s no sound or video out the LCD and amplifier. But no worries as the latest home theatre amplifier will sync and detect the video & audio automatically through HDMI if you connect HDMI correctly.

Reading from manual sometimes confused me about selecting the correct setting for it to work. Questions will start appearing in mind why there’s no sound, why no video, why there’s sound but no video and vice versa.

You need 2 HDMI cables for this to work, with full audio & video.

Here i’m going to guide you on hooking up your PS3 or Blu-ray player without any trouble. Referring to the picture below, the correct way to connect your HDMI cable :

Setup PS3 to Amplifier with HDMI

For Audio, you connect your PS3 HDMI -> Game Console HDMI slot on amplifier
For video, connect your TV/LCD HDMI-> your TV HDMI slot on amplifier

Select ‘GAME‘ mode on the amplifier

Setup Bluray Player to Amplifier with HDMI
For Audio, connect your Blu-ray player HDMI  -> Blu-ray HDMI slot on on amplifier
For video, connect your TV/LCD HDMI-> your TV HDMI slot on on amplifier

Select ‘BD/Blu-ray‘ mode on the amplifier

Now turn up your volume and test. The audio & video will synced automatically by the amp. Check your LCD for display and most important, you need to do is turn up your volume!

I’m using on a Denon AVR-1311 5.1 AV surround amplifier, i have to turn the volume to half, otherwise there’s no sound. This is normal. Now enjoy your Blu-ray movies and gaming.
