I bought a used Robertson Audio Home Theater QF3 Speakers recently and noticed that the woofer drivers sound are REALLY bad for my ears. The sound are totally flat with no bass from the woofers. Suspected it is either dying or dead, so i decided with all the DIY of replacing the woofers. It is a fun process for DIY changing the woofers anyway.
Replacing the bad old woofers is an easy task, just disassemble the woofers from speaker cabinet, cut the + – wires, and connect it to the new Goldwood woofer. It will only take 10-15 minutes for the speakers replacement. See the picture below.
Now make sure the wiring is connected firmly to the new woofer you just installed. If you have polyfill, insert it into your cabinet. Place it back, and screw it tight.
Well, it looks great and sexy! It’s time to break in my new set of woofers!

And the punchy bass is back with a pair of new woofers only cost me $36.30 (MYR 116.16)! The quality of the sound is far better than those cheap pasar road speakers. Don’t waste those money on cheap dull stuff.
After break in of the front speakers, it’s time for tuning and tweaking your home theater system so it sound good to your ears.
My DENON receiver setting :
Speakers Setting >> Front Speakers >> Small | Center Speakers >> Small | Rear Speakers >> Small
Bass Setting for Powered Subwoofer >> select LFE only (with this setting you can just let the sub do it job) Choosing LFE+Main will sound really.. BAD!
Crossover Frequency >> Front 80Hz >> Center 80Hz >> Rear 80 Hz
This are the best setup for my amp at the moment! Bass from sub will definitely shakes your house & windows and indeed will annoy your neighbours!
I’m a satisfied Parts Express customer now. Will upgrade to a new pair tweeters in future. Happy DIY dudes!
