DJ Adam Matson

Adam Matson aka Dj Freedom currently provides the soundtrack at the infamous Ark Bar Beach Party in Chaweng Beach on Koh Samui, Thailand. This event, on Wednesdays, has become almost as legendary as the Full Moon Party amongst travelers worldwide.

Having lived on the island for over 5 years, Adam has developed a unique style which has garnered him DJ sets at many of the islands’ popular venues. He creates a musical journey each and every time he plays. It is said that he prepares each set for every party individually, a rare quality amongst today’s music maestros.

In 1996 having lived in Mallorca for most of his life and also being brought up in England, Ireland, the Caribbean, Portugal, Belize and the U.S.A he ventured into the world of dance music. A multicultural upbringing influenced his musical style which brought attention from the local party organizers there.

He began dj’ing at various private parties, clubs and full moon events which helped him to establish a reputation as being an essential part of Mallorca’s growing nightlife.

In the year 2000 he made his debut at Pacha Mallorca, having already played alongside the big names of the island this earned him the respect he deserved. He continued presenting his unique approach for music to the people of the island until he settled in Thailand after a tour of Spain, Portugal and Morocco at the end of 2002.

As we already know Adam plays in Koh Samui regularly, his method
as ever Balearic, now carrying other input from the locals.

Inspiration comes from the Thai dj’s ‘A’, ‘Pik’ and ‘Longy’. The foreign dj’s, David Sambor, Simon Solo, Dino “D’Laze” and Kris Oliver have also had an eternal effect on his technique. Adam’s latest project sees him venturing into Asia with the iParty Group. A new concept looking to provide quality dj’s and their sounds throughout the continent of Asia.
