Although he has already found his forte in music genres, NYL has managed to still maintain a level of versatility. Encompassing the house music genre, he sources tracks with sexy funk vibes, sleek minimal sounds, electro and rich, thumping techno digitalism, minimal, electro and sexy house vibes. Far from being stuck in a rut, NYL is constantly leaving his comfort zone; updating his music collection and knowledge and making the songs his own. His trademark is silky 90s vocals and tribal digitalism that has come to be recognized as the mark of his work.

Being self-taught, NYL has developed his own style, which proved to be fruitful as he landed his first gig after only two years. The sessions as the resident DJ at Zazu Beach Club, a popular club in Sunway Lagoon, in the spring of 2008 saw him experimenting with a more pumping electro sound. Then, in the summer of 2008, NYL spun for several nights at Marketplace where his repertoire included more soulful vocal house tracks.

NYL has spun alongside KL’s most experimental DJs, RaySoo at Disco Paradiso (Frangipani, November 2009) and House U Down’s F1 Weekend Special (Frangipani, April 2010), further broadening his music horizon into minimal, minimal tech and minimal disco. Other local DJs, NYL has played with Dangerdisko, Gaijin, OMP Crew, SOUNDHERTZ Crew, Phu5ion Crew, Rob Nutek, Blastique ,Hebbo and the list continues through his fast-paced and steady career. His most exciting achievements to date is the crazy 2-hour set he played alongside Jason Phats – of the iconic Phats and Small - for the KL leg of the series of Freedom parties in August 2009.

Continuing along this path of DJ-ing gigs in the many different clubs around Kuala Lumpur, NYL was recognised for his talent by being nominated for ‘The Best Resident DJ 2011’, ‘The Best House DJ 2011’ and his first track produced 'Kalu' has been selected as the best top 12 tracks for Choons Awards 2011. He was also featured on a popular blog, MiniMalaysia’s podcast (Episode 45). Amongst NYL’s other achievements are being part of tours with popular DJs from around the world like Ellen Allien (GER), Riva Starr (UK), Keli Hart (AUS) and Yousef (UK). NYL has been Resident DJ at Ecoba since September 2010.

When not spinning at gigs, NYL dabbles around making his own tracks as well as looking for new tracks to broaden his genre versatility on the decks. SOUNDKOD, his latest Duo project, was officially launched in 2010 with DJ Funkayrol (Founder Of Phu5ion Music).
