theshortshortman also known as Marcus Ch'ng started DJing with cassettes during the early 1980's. He wanted to improve and then took the initiative to save his own pocket money by selling off his collections of rare comic books and then bought 2 units of 2nd hand Technics 1200 turntables and a Numark 2 channel mixer to practice at home daily.

During 1985, he was still not able to enter into clubs and nightspots because of his age (11 yrs old), people didn't believe that he could spin like regular DJs. Until club owners in KL & PJ heard him auditioning for DJ jobs all across these 2 cities.

In 1986, theshortshortman played his first gig and settled for guest Dj spots and event slots for Clubs all over Malaysia. Voted as the youngest DJ in Malaysia in 1986 by local papers, he can't wait to turn 18 to be able to DJ full time. He then made an event and mobile disco rental company called 'Hyperdrive' in the late 80's with his long time school mates to do house parties and events across Malaysia. 

When he turned 18, he took his first job at 'Canton City', Malaysia's then biggest Canto Pop Club (1993 - club capacity 2000 people) and took a job as a light man. He then showed to everyone that he could also spin records and his bosses offered him to be the Resident DJ at Canton City. He also learned to use live band mixers and lighting applications during his tenure there. In within that same year, he took care of the club's sound, lighting and was also their resident DJ.

In 1996. He then moved on to 'The Music Machine'. At that time a very big DJ agency and events management company in Malaysia. His career in The Music Machine took him to spin at clubs such as Tin Mine, Club 10, Club Elite, Uncle Chili's, Stardust Malacca and many other clubs in Peninsular Malaysia. 

In 1997, theshortshortman decided to join an Events Management, Mobile Disco and equipment business called 'Hi Volt Productions'.
There he learnt how to be an Emcee and created gameshow concepts for corporate events in and out of Malaysia. Since then, he has been to Sabah, Sarawak, Beijing- China, Gold Coast - Australia, Bangkok, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei to perform as Emcee and gameshow host to major worldwide & local corporations. He has interviewed stars such as Simon Yam (Hong Kong Action Actor), Jay Chou (Taiwan Superstar) and bands such as Ultra, Michael Learns To Rock, The Corrs and many more superstars..

In the year 2000, theshortshortman started his own events management company called 'World Events' and soon after 'World Events Network Sdn Bhd'. Within a span of 7 years, the company had done about more than 3000+ events, from very small to very big production shows.

In 2007, theshortshortman joined 'Dynamix', a sound, lighting & visuals trading and distribution company as Chief Operations Officer.
