Nicky C
With a lifetime interest in music & sound, Nicky's career kicked off by his decision to embark on an Audio course. While still studying, Nicky was introduced to DJing and worked part-time playing at house parties, transporting his own sound system back and forth. As he gathered momentum, he was offered part -time appearances at clubs which developed into regular weekend appearances. Nicky landed his first full time DJ job in 1995 when he joined the R&B Club, "The Cactus Club". During this period he was also actively involved in the production of a sefl-titled rap album "Naughitus Maximus" under the now defunct Articulate Records.

Because of his initial interest and involvement with sound systems and music Nicky was also actively participating in the production aspects of the industry by forming the 'Hyper Sound System'. A change in musical direction for Nicky came when he was offered a job at 'The Underground Cafe' in 1997 where he started playing house and Drum & Bass. It was a challenging time of late night lock-in's playing 8-9 hours till dawn on weekends. After the closure of 'The Undergound' two years later, he was instrumental, together with a few friends in establishing 'The Backroom* KL'. His stint at The Backroom gave Nicky the opporturnity to personally moot a Sunday Drum & Bass night called 'The Midnight Moods' which he successfully maintained for three years. Nicky has since worked as a resident DJ with many clubs around the country gaining experience with innumerable sound systems.

Among the clubs and gigs Nicky has appeared in are Zouk, Velvet Underground, Luna Bar, Arena Discotheque, Warp Dance Club, Apex Fun Pub, Scream, Riva's, Nuphorik.net, Jingles Pub, The Pudu Prison Party '97, Spikes, Partybox, 66 Cool Club, The Disco, Shuttle 8, NY Club, Mikes Place, KL Tower (Siqx), Echo, Ohm, Delawi, 12SI (Rush, Flux & Atomsphere), Lush, Aman Cafe, Station 3, Orange, Bar Amber, X-Tracts, Bar Blonde and the Chillout Club. Nicky has also apperanced as a guest DJ for DMC Malaysia at PV & Tribes Bar in east Malaysia, Sauce's club nights in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, KENT parties in Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club warming-up for Fatboy Slim, PEPSI's Comonwealth Games Party at Kuala Lumpur's National Stadium and has also DJ'ed for Cream's 10th Anniversary, Gatecrasher Global Sound System & God's Kitchen alongside Seb Fontaine, Ashley Casselle, AJ Gibson, Fatboy Slim & Tom Wainwright.

Nicky has played alongside some of the hottest international artists including DJ Diamond, Kenny Ken (Mix & Blen), Aphrodite (Urban Takeover), K-Klass, Qatarra, X-Press 2, Different Levels.com , >ON<, DJ Disciple (Catch 22), DJ Sandy Rivera (KOT), Jerome Sydenham (US), T-Kolai (US), Bryan Gee (V), Rude Boy Rupert (Garage City), Shy FX & Frenzic (Ebony Records, ATM), Booker T, Julius Papp, DJ Angela Flame, DJ Stringray & DJ Unknown (Singapore), DJ Jeff Teng (HK), DJ Chris Lee (China), Ko Kimura & Joel Lai (Japan, HK), Bob Sinclar & DJ Yellow (Yellow Productions) and Von Rainer (Germany), DJ Christian (Hooj), Nigel Hayes (Spain), Mohan (Berlin), Aril Brikha (Sweden) & Alex Pratt (Tokyo).

After a break from DJing in 2005, Nicky C went into the studio and began writing music. In 2005, Nicky C released his first solo album; 'Dreams'. 'Dreams' went on to be awarded the 'Best Local Album of 2005' by Malaysia's Juice Magazine. Since then Nicky C has released four solo albums; 'Dreams' (2005), 'In The Nick Of Time' (2006), 'Telekinetic' (2007) & 'Retroelectro' (2008).

In 2006, alongside studio partner and good friend Jungle Jerry, Nicky C remixed Mori Kante's 'Yeke Yeke' under the moniker of DUA. The remix; 'Yeke Yeke 2006' went on to reach 1 on the charts of HITZ FM's (92.9MHZ) 'Met10 Charts' national radio show.

2008 was a good year for Nicky C. Starting off with a release of 'Seasons EP' on Nu Breed Music UK, 'Seasons' was remixed and released by Gatecrasher UK's resident DJs Nick Riley & Andy Durrant with Mark Maitland & featured a Holmtik mix on the b-side. Nicky C then went on to debut on Singapore's OneWithMusic, releasing a stunning 2 tracker of lush melodies and progressive soundscapes with the 'Redirection EP', with early support from Laurent Garnier, Andy Moor, Aldrin & Tom Shelvin. In December '08, Nicky C was nominated for four awards in the VIMA 2008 (Voize Independent Music Awards) for Best Instrumental, Best Dance Act, Best Dance Song & Best Collaboration and cooly walked away on the night with 2 of the 4 nominations, Best Instrumental ('Kids') & Best Dance Act.

Nicky C's tracks can be found on various labels worldwide, some of which include OneWithMusic (Singapore), Green Snake Records (Australia), Elektrax Recordings (Australia), Pollux Records (Athens, Greece), Adlib Records (Malaysia), Gillazia Records (Malaysia), Acid Records (Malaysia), Toolbar Records (Germany), and on his own newly established label; 220V Digital Recordings (Malaysia).

Nicky C's tracks and exclusive DJ sets can also be heard on national & online radio shows such as Campur Chart (Fly FM 95.8MHZ), The Vinyl Frontier (Red FM 104.9MHZ), Turn It Up (Capitol FM 98.8MHZ), Pure.fm, Neradio.com, DI.FM, No Borders Radio Show, Radio KUL.com, Danceradio.gh & Eradio-one.de, and is featured on many DJs playlists, including DJ Medeival (USA), Dip Disc (KUL), Tesla Da Vinci (RUS), Simon Lee & Alvin (KUL), Danny Oh (KUL), DJ Chinois (KUL/Philipines) & DJ Love (KUL), to name but a few.
