Bandar Sunway, Selangor, Malaysia, 23 April 2009…The critically acclaimed Global Underground music series ravages into Malaysia with one of Britain’s top globe-trotting dance music DJs and a much sought-after remix talent, Darren Emerson taking over the night at  Ministry of Sound – EUPHORIA @ Sunway Lagoon Resort on Friday, 22 May 2009.  Unleashing Techno, House, Progressive House and Progressive Trance sounds, Emerson spins fresh new tracks from his third installment of the GU mix, ‘Bogota’, in the sensational album WorldTour.  

The U.K. deejay began mixing Hip-Hop at the age of 14, and by 17, he was playing in various venues around London.  Inspired by DJs such as Jazzy M, Emerson progressed into house music and quickly acquired a reputation as one of the top British DJs, gaining recognition as “DJ of the Month” by The Face magazine and i-D magazine.

In 1990, Emerson joined as the third member of a techno band, Underworld, and released three albums which have since sold over a million copies worldwide. Their first album Dubnobasswithmyheadman was their commercial breakthrough into the burgeoning British electronica scene then. ‘Born Slippy.NUXX’ from their second album became an instant hit following its inclusion on the soundtrack to the award-winning movie, Trainspotting. Emerson soon remixed tracks for the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Björk, Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy and Puff Daddy.

Parting ways with Underworld in the year 2000, Emerson began transitioning into a solo career as a DJ and remixer as well as focusing on his own music label, Underwater Records. Emerson released two hugely successful Underwater Episodes 1 and 2, and two Global Underground compilations that followed subsequently; Global Underground: Uruguay and Global Underground: Singapore.
Emerson’s label continued to increase in its portfolio of artists, and eventually gained its own night at a super club in Ibiza, Pacha. In 2003, Underwater Records was voted “Label of the Year” by DJ mag and won “House Event” of the summer at the DJ Magazine awards. Establishing himself as a tech-house heavyweight, Emerson’s unsurpassed artistry and rhythmic sounds of deep, jacking house and techno cuts have made him one of the most sought-after DJs in the world.  

Founded in 1996, the Global Underground music label symbolises the explosion of dance music.  It is the first manifesto for high-end DJs and a hallmark in the progressive house world.
